I object to (over-)paying for software. There
is excellent software available for free for
many common user applications. There are also
many, many applications available on line for
download on a trial basis; most of these have
reasonable prices for a full license.
Below are some links:
Software Sites
Allchars - Home (an outstanding keyboard macro and accented-character manager)
AVS4YOU (multimedia; producer of an excellent media player)
BeBits - The Best Source of BeOS Software! (BeOS was an operating system that was more compact, more reliable, and a lot better than Windows - except that Microsoft owned Windows while BeOS was a small operation; you can still obtain it, but its support for modern hardware is now limited.)
Common Control Library, Delete and Removal Information! (Windows depends on a great many “DLL” files; there is a strong tendency over time for these files to get replaced with obsolete versions, versions infected with viruses, or simply deleted altogether. This is one of several sites where you should look for appropriate copies of your damaged DLLs.)
Cult of the Dead Cow (the “notorious” prototypical hacker site; now fairly tame)
